BRIEF

Work–learning hub for meetings, seminars, and artists’ workspaces, equipped for digital production (computers, 3D printers, projection). The aim was a legible, adaptable environment for making, learning, and discussion.

CONCEPT

A residency-oriented cultural hub that preserves Exarcheia’s alternative, experimental character while adapting to contemporary needs. Within the thesis framework, this space leverages openness and transparency to promote community and dialogue. An open plan with transparent thresholds ensures visual connection, while integrated digital-fabrication infrastructure and targeted acoustic control support teaching, collaboration, production and creativity.

KEY INTERVENTIONS

Translucent amber glazed partition · Central workstation island with integrated power/data · Dedicated 3D-printing bay and print/plot area · Ceiling baffles and circular wall absorbers for acoustic control · Ring-light wall datum for orientation and soft illumination · Meeting room with projector

AESTHETIC NOTE

Transparent materials to express collectivity and openness · acoustic surfaces for focus · calibrated colour accents with large black planes · black-and-white abstract motifs — together, these elements register as an intentionally experimental nod to the site’s underground ethos.
